Baklava for ischta
Baklava has long been part of celebrations across the Middle East, the Balkans and the wider Ottoman world, a pastry deeply connected to hospitality, generosity and togetherness. Traditionally prepared for religious holidays and special gatherings, trays of baklava were shared with family, neighbours and guests as a gesture of warmth and abundance.
Made from dozens of delicate layers of pastry, butter and nuts, baklava is a craft that takes time, patience and care, qualities passed down through generations of home kitchens and family tables. For our baklava, we used hazelnuts from our grandparents’ orchard in Turkey, making this year’s Eid bake feel especially personal and close to home.
Made slowly by hand and baked fresh for the celebration.
